Delta man held after high-speed chase By StaffOLATHE — A Delta man spent Independence Day locked up after, the state patrol alleged, he led officers on a high-speed chase. “We don’t know why he left and why he did what he did,” Colorado State Patrol Cpt. Clark Bates said of Jacob Hollett, 32. Hollett is accused of fleeing a traffic stop after he was pulled over early July 4 for failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle on Highway 50. The CSP says Hollett initially pulled onto the shoulder of the road, but then accelerated and drove on. The trooper caught up with Hollett as he turned his Buick onto a frontage road, and the car stopped near 6300 Road. But the chase didn’t end there. According to state patrol reports, as the trooper gave orders to Hollett, he again fled, pulling back onto the highway and speeding off close to 100 mph. ——— For the full story, see today's print edition.
