Norman Ruben

May 21, 1937 — July 6, 2009

MONTROSE — Norman Ruben was born May 21, 1937 in Montrose, Colo. and grew up on his father’s homestead five miles east of Montrose. He attended Montrose County High School through the 10th grade. He faced many challenges throughout his life, but always was a survivor against all odds. He was employed at many of the local businesses and one of his favorite bosses was Bill Wallace who took him hunting. Norman’s favorite sport was hunting and enjoying the great outdoors. Norman has spent the last several years working at the COI Woodshop, where he thoroughly enjoyed his job and his boss. The most important thing to Norman was for him to have a job and go to work. Even when he could have retired he wanted to continue working part time. Norman as you ride off into the sunset at the end of the day, tomorrow there will be a new beginning on your favorite horse old Nancy, that is waiting on the other side to take you for the ride. May you have a renewed soul, a beautiful journey and a joyous reunion with loved ones that have gone before you.

Norman was preceded in death by his father and mother, Kohn and Bessie Ruben; his brother, Herman and a baby sister. Norman is survived by his sister, Ella Bloom; a niece, Robin Bloom Huffman (Robbie) and a nephew, Carrington Bloom.

A funeral service in celebration of Norman’s life will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2009, at 2 p.m., at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Nystrom officiating. Burial will follow the service at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-2121.
