MONTROSE — Frances Lopez, age 83, of Montrose, Colo., passed away Saturday, afternoon, Aug. 1, 2009, at her home in Montrose. Frances was born Oct. 4, 1925 to Eubaldo and Clorinda (Fernandez) Guara in Colfax, N.M. She spent her childhood and received her education in Ocate, N.M. She married Manuel Lopez in Montrose and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2004. Frances had also resided in Edgewater, Colo. before moving to Montrose where she made her home until her time of death. She liked to play bingo and spending time with her family. She enjoyed meeting and visiting with friends and talking on the phone.
Surviving family members include her sons, Carlos Guara, Manuel Lopez and wife Kathy, Romolo Lopez and wife, Ofelia all of Montrose, Rudy Lopez and wife Lydia of Pea Green, Colo.; daughters, Lucinda Mascarenas, Kathy Lovato and Dicky of Montrose, Christine Lopez-Herrera and Mike of Lafayette, Colo.; brothers, Joe and Ted Guara; sisters, Beatrice Alcon, Edith Maestas, Lillian Martinez and Isabell Gonzales. Frances was a proud grandmother of 26 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel; son, Jerry at six months; parents, Eubaldo and Clorinda Guara; grandparents, Teodoro and Ramonsita Fernandez; sisters, Delia Martinez and Evelyn Leal; and brother, Fidel Guara.
