MONTROSE — Carolyn June Johnson passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 3, 2009, at her home in Montrose, at the age of 64. Carolyn was born Aug. 18, 1945 to Vernon C. McGuffey and Mary F. (Carrier) Allen in Danville, Ky. She spent her childhood and received her education in Danville, Ky. She married Kenneth Johnson on Feb. 26, 1997 in Montrose, and he survives. Carolyn was previously married to Richard Nutter, who preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1996 in Montrose. She had also resided in Fremont, Calif., Bellingham, Wash., Honolulu, Hawaii and Daytona Beach, Fla. before moving to Montrose, Colo., where she made her home until her time of death. Carolyn enjoyed crafts, reading and home decorating. She loved spending time with her grandkids. Surviving family members include her husband, Kenneth Johnson of Montrose, Colo.; mother, Mary (Ben) Allen of Port Orange, Fla.; one step-son, Gary (Loretta) Johnson of Grand Junction, Colo.; daughters, Christina (Kevin) Starks of Naturita, Colo., Michele (Mike) Crawford of McKinney, Texas; brother, Vern C. McGuffey Jr. of Fremont, Calif.; six grandchildren: Kelsey Starks of Naturita, Colo., Tiffany (Kris) Tomlinson of Nucla, Colo., Kristen Crawford of McKinney, Texas, Alesander, Elijah, Vincent Johnson of Grand Junction, Colo.; and one great-granddaughter, Madelynn Patricia Tomlinson of Nucla, Colo. Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Vernon McGuffey Sr.; stepfather, Robert L. Crawford.
A public visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, from 3 to 5 p.m., at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a celebration of life at the family home following the viewing. Burial will take place at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Stanford, Ky.
