MONTROSE — A fire that broke out at 1521 Ogden Road late Saturday night has destroyed several businesses.

"The whole thing is basically a loss," building owner Steve Hill said.

Hill said he received a call about the fire around 11 p.m. Saturday. He was told by Colorado Bureau of Investigation that the fire started in or around the stove in The Boy's Bakery on the south side of the building. CBI was not sure if the stove or electrical problems was the source. Hill said the CBI ruled out arson.

The Montrose Fire District battled the blazes into Sunday morning. The fire destroyed the bakery, along with Papa Murphy's, Developer Resource, Inc. and a vacant business space. The fire district could not be reached for more details.

The Montrose Police Department is also investigating the fire, which is a standard procedure, Police Chief Tom Chinn said.

Chinn said the department also requested help from the CBI.

The area around the building is roped off until the investigations are complete.

Hill said he has insurance that should cover damages. He was waiting for his adjuster to start the assessment and investigation process and was not sure of total damages to the 2004 building. Hill also said that the individual businesses that rented space from him should also have insurance.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.

" I hope my friend at The Boys Bakery is alright. I know it must feel very badly so many businesses were lost, But it is a positive no one was hurt. I hope everyone at the other business's as well come through ok. "
