Something to consider before you rush off for your shot, or shots....

Before you roll up your sleeve to get that Swine Flu vaccine shot, keep in mind that the doctor who's sticking you with that needle probably opted not to get the shot - because he or she was too afraid of side effects.

At least that's the case in Hong Kong where about half of health workers passed on inoculations for the H1N1 virus in the middle of the biggest panic over the would-be pandemic.

The reason: they doubted its effectiveness AND its safety.

The Hong Kong docs also claimed that they were concerned about the impact that any illness that THEY might contract would have on the nation's ability to respond to a pandemic. But you've got to wonder … what do they know that we don't?

Here in the West, the official party line is that all healthcare workers will be among the first to receive the vaccination for Swine Flu since they are the first line of defense against the sickness. But even the British Medical Journal admits that inoculating a nation's healthcare forces will be difficult if these workers "don't believe that vaccine to be safe and effective."

Yet one more reason to keep those sleeves rolled down, as well as the fact there not liable for any adverse side effects, in addition to unknowen long term adverse side effects this rapidly tested vaccine was approved under....Dr. Bill

I do believe that so many diseases and afflictions today are caused by what we all breathe, eat, drink, smoke, or inject. Still, I think there are times where we need to triage based upon what our needs require (migraines may need marijuana?) for comfort and survival. It's good to have choices, but we have to live or die with the choices we make. Peace out . . . "

On the other hand, you have healthy people who would normally withstand the flu very well, dying from secondary bacterial infections.
I believe my plan will be to update my kids pneumonia shots and wait and see on the swine flu vaccine. "

You may be well now but be ready for alzheimers, parkinsons SP?and who knows what else may happen after all those years of injecting toxins. Just think, you pay for vacinnes, and may also pay later, suffer way more than a few possible flu bouts...CM "

I'm glad you eat organic food; so do I.

I'm glad you haven't had a bad cold in ten years; neither have I. (I've had flu shots for the last ten years, too.)

You, however, need to take one or two fewer puffs of whatever before you write. Your grammar and spelling really suck. (Maybe you really aren't Dr. Bill!) "

It did say that one who received a seasonal flu shot LAST year might get a milder case of H1N1 this year, if in fact the study's suppositions were true. That's not earthshaking enough to cause all of us to run from flu shots. Do what you choose. I choose to be vaccinated. "

However, it is only a more dangerous risk factor to select groups of people. Sometimes its best to let the body develop its own antibodies.
