The cones are gone on S. Townsend!! What a great site. What do you think of the completed project? WIl traffic run smoother? Will it hurt the business that you can no longer get into or out of? Just wondering.

    " To "BIll Rights"
All the empty buildings on main has very little to do with the medians. We can thank the economy for that, not the road. The medians have been on main and towsends for decades and we are still ok, and business's were doing just fine. It's money problems, not street problems. Common sense. The only people that are affected by the medians are the people that are too lazy to walk a block, or turn around so they are going the right direction to get to their destination. Lazy complainers are the only ones so upset "

Doesn't it torque everyone that they are selling this with the lame excuse of public safety? I'm all for making the city beautiful as what it is, but it would be nice if the planners thought this through before they did it. "

" Wondering hit the nail on the head. That is the other reason that people get into so many accidents, they don't even know the rules. Probably all the same people that sit at the green arrows on the by pass instead of paying attention to what they are doing. "

" I drive that stretch every day and have started looking to see where the signs are posted to make the u-turns illegal. Unless I am mistaken there isn't a single sign. That would make any u-turn in that stretch LEGAL. In the state of Colorado U-turn's are illegal only where it is posted or you have an accident while in the process of executing a Legal u-turn. I agree the amount of u-turns will increase but they are not necessarily illegal. Please quit refering to them as ILLEGAL u-turns. "

" The City, when confronted with the subject that you would not be able to get in and out of businesses, responed with "the drivers will just have to make U-turns". implying that it would now be legal to make U-turns. The problem still remains, that a good precentage of the vehicals on the Montrose roads can't make a U-turn in the space allowed. What a mess! "

" So...basically what people are saying is that there will be accidents because some idiots are going to drive illegally???? Isn't that the cause of most accidents anyway? So if people drive legally, no accidents...if YOU choose to drive illegally (and make ILLEGAL U turns) and cause accidents...then its the city's fault for putting a median there......duh...how moronic can people get. "

" There may have been accidents before the median was put in, but what do you think is going to happen now with people doing illegal u-turns just to get turned around because they cannot turn left into a business, they will just do ilegal u-turns to avoid having to go around the block where ever just to get back to where they want to go, you don't think this will cause accidents? Think again. It went from bad to worse. "

" I honestly think this is the biggest waste of money. Even if it is grant money, it is still tax payers money. As a driver of a concrete mixer, going in and out of the construction and seeing how many "almost" accidents was scarey enough. Also, why is it we get grant money to beautify our city, yet our city workers are forced into furlough of wages and time. What a scarey world we live in. "

" I for one think it's a good idea. Turning left OUT of Taco bell has been something of a trouble point for years, and generally an option available in small towns, which Montrose is unfortunately is not. Also, turing left INTO Taco Bell coming from the south has always been risky when you end up face to face in the lane of death with an oncoming driver trying to turn left. That particular area has just become busy enough to need such changes. However, the concrete work that has been done looks terrible!! "

" And who do you think payes for CDOT? That is always the problem with government money, you think it's someone else paying for it, when it's really you and me. Anyway, it looks nice but they should have waited to have alternate routes completed, Rio Grand, and thru roads east of Townsend, before changing traffic patterns. "

I wish they would add something to break up the right turn lanes right in there.
Too many people get in the turn lane blocks too early and accidents occur because they are signaling they are turning right, then they go straight, hitting the car that is turning out!
THAT wuld really help in that area. "

There's no question in my mind that it will hurt the business that you can no longer get into because the middle turn lane is gone. I see a lot of folks dong u-turns to get to where they are needing. Hopefully that won't create more of a problem. Sometimes, it's hard to conceive what the city is thinking. "

You can't have the opportunity to pull into the median and wait to move over at all, coming out of taco bell, you have no choice but to turn right, and Department of health and human services area, yea right, that is pathetic. Thanks Montrose for complication traffic worse. People will be doing illegic U-turns now, gareenteed. "
