MONTROSE — There were tense moments on board a Lear jet Monday morning, when equipment indicated a fire on the plane.

But luck was with the pilot and three passengers: There was no fire, only a faulty indicator, airport fire officials said.

The call of a possible fire came in at around 9:30 a.m. Monday, and Montrose Regional Airport’s fire department responded with both of its trucks. Because of the aircraft type and number on board, the airport fire department also called in its other resources, including Montrose Fire Protection District.

The jet landed safety, but it had to be parked while a full inspection was carried out.

The flight’s providers had to arrange for another jet to transport the passengers.
