‘Gone Fishing’

Dec. 17, 1947 — Oct. 3, 2009

MONTROSE — Wayne Guadalupe Rocha, age 61, of Montrose, passed away Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at his home with his family at his side. Wayne was born Dec. 17, 1947 to Arthur V. and Flora (Martinez) Rocha at Montrose, Colo. At the age of 15, Wayne and his family moved to Magna, Utah where he resided. He married Joann Gonzales in July 1967. Sixteen years ago, Wayne moved from Utah and returned to Montrose where he made his home until his time of death. Wayne’s favorite pastime was fishing and watching the Denver Broncos. He also enjoyed hunting with cousins and friends. Wayne collected tools, fishing poles, or items he thought he could repair, using them in his home or in his yard. He took great pride in his yard, enjoying his rose bushes, flowers and lawn ornaments. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family get-togethers. He also enjoyed having coffee with his cousin, Cindy, and friends in the morning.

Survivors include his wife, Joann; his children, Flora and Peggy Rocha of Durango, Colo.; a son, Wayne Rocha Jr. of Salt Lake City, Utah; brothers, Ernie (Patsy) Rocha of Montrose, Colo., Juan Rocha of Salt Lake City, Utah; sisters, Isabelle (Valente) Manzanares of Flat Top, Utah, Charlotte (Sal) Valdez of Magna, Utah, Teresa DeLaCruz of Salt Lake City, Utah and Virginia Rocha of Pocatello, Idaho; grandchildren, Pedro(Vanessa) Flora Jo, Robert, Dayz, Skyy, Trey, Selena, Isaiah; great-grandchildren, Netasha, Jacob, Camryn and Armando; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Flora; brothers, Rusty, Robert, Tudo, Rudy; and a sister, Barbara.   

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, in memory of Wayne Rocha, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402. A public visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at 2 p.m., at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Cedar Cemetery, Montrose, Colo. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-2121.
