MONTROSE—Sandra K. Karmes, 68, of Montrose, passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in September, 2009.

Sandra married Louis S. Karmes on May 22, 1969 in Hastings, Mich. She worked for many years as a cashier in a food store while residing in Michigan. Sandra and Louis moved from Grand Ledge, Mich. to Montrose in July, 1999 where they made their home until her time of death.
Sandra was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Sandra was a member of the Elk’s Lodge, The National Rifle Association, and Western Four-Wheel Drive Club. She is survived by her husband, Louis of the family home; mother, Arletta Aryes of Temperance, Mich; son Louis Karmes, of Tucson, Ariz.; daughters, Angella Malaney of Haslett, Mich., Connie Williams and Tina Eaton both of Hastings, Mich., Sherrie Tompson of Washington, D.C; brother, Orley Downing of Temperance, Mich.; and 14 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Sandra’s life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ouray Elk’s Lodge, in Ouray. The service will conclude at the Elk’s Lodge. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory.
