DENVER - Six West Slope residents were arrested in the past few days on charges related to the distribution of cocaine, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.

Five more are still being sought as fugitives. Three more defendants were arrested Tuesday on state charges.

Many of the suspects are thought to be linked to the La Familia drug trafficking organization, based in Michoacan, Mexico, which is known for its violence.

The arrests were part of a nationwide sweep, known as Project Coronado, that led to the capture of 1,200 drug suspects overall.

Arrested as part of the West Slope investigation were: Martin Pimintel, Rosalie Aide Quijada, Tiburcio Delgadillo-Martinez, Salvador Delgadillo-Alvarez, Justin Skipski and Jorge Rosales-Acevedo.

Those listed as fugitives were: Salvador Vera-Gigueroa, Emanuel Pimintel, Arceli Topete, Lucio Topete-Hernandez and Daniel Velasquez-Guerro.

They are accused of distributing mass quantities of cocaine and transferring the money gained thereby.

So far in the West Slope investigation, more than $300,000 have been seized, along with 8 kilos of cocaine and 3 pounds of methamphetamine.

The seizure tally for Project Coronado overall is $32.8 million, 2,710 pounds of meth, 1,999 kilos of cocaine, 29 pounds of heroin, 16,390 pounds of marijuana, 389 weapons and 269 vehicles.

" Hmmmm. No mention of citizenship status. Once again the media has no intestinal fortitude to tell the entire story. I want to know citizenship status on all crimes so there can be documented evidence for better immigration controls. Or are members of our government involved in smuggling also???? So many questions... "
