MONTROSE — Cynthia Elaine Dunlap, longtime resident of Montrose, Colo., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at her home. Cindy was 56 years old. She is survived by her husband, Mike Dunlap of Montrose; son, Brian Dunlap of Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Greg Rait of Grand Junction, Colo.; mother-in-law, Dorothy Dunlap, and sister-in-law, Sherry Dunlap, both of Montrose, as well as Dino their much loved Boxer.

Cindy was born to Robert Rait and Florine Hornbaker Rait in Grand Junction, Colo. on Sept. 15, 1953.  Raised in Grand Junction, Cindy graduated from Mesa State College with an Associate’s Degree. She met Mike Dunlap while attending Mesa State and they were married on April 7, 1973 in Grand Junction.

Cindy owned and operated the Big Country Travel Agency in Montrose for over 30 years. She was a member of the Montrose Chamber of Commerce.  Over the years, Cindy, Mike, and Brian all enjoyed boating on Blue Mesa and shared a passion for auto racing. Cindy landscaped their yard and enjoyed being outside, helping Mike with the cattle, chickens and family ranch.

The funeral service will be held at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel in Montrose, Colo., at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009. Paul Nystrom will be officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-2121.
