"Health officials said Friday that 76 children have died of swine flu, including 16 new reports in the past week — more evidence the new virus is unusually dangerous in kids. The regular flu kills between 46 and 88 children a year, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data."  "Health officials also said more data is trickling in from several clinical trials of the new vaccine, and so far no serious side effects have been reported."  Hmmm, maybe rethinking about the vaccine for my children isnt so bad of an idea, especially my asthmatic baby.

" Personally, I will not give any vaccine to my small children that:
    1. Have not been properly tested.
    2. The manufacturer is NOT liable for any damage that occurs from an improperly tested vaccine.
    3. The president of the United States isn't willing to give his children.

Interesting also that the manufacturer had a patent on the vaccine before it even started spreading. Do some research and don't believe the hype! Or stay afraid of everything and do what the TV tells you to do. "

    " interested....

I wouldn't be so smug. You don't have all the information, and are wrong on some of the so-called facts you are posting. You couldn't pay me to get this vaccine, nasal or otherwise. I prefer to take my changes on the mild swine flu, and the normal seasonal flu. "

" It's amazing how many people write out of half knowledge. There is an issue with the vaccine and asthmatics but it is with the nasal. The nasal also doesn't have mercury nor does the single does of the shot. Only the double does. Doctors have recommended that asthmatics do not get the nasal spray because it popagates in the nose and lungs and can trigger attacks. Know SOMETHING before you spout! "

" Alley, who told you that it was h1n1 that hit valley manor? any reference to prove that statement? yes, nursing homes can get hit hard with viral ilnessess, and it can be devastating. but to say that valley manor had it is a false statement. "

" i was in utah several weeks ago and contracted h1n1, along with my family. .it came on so fast i thought we were poisoned . threw up many, many times until it was dry heaves and vile !!!! we all had a fever, back pain that was horrible, and the most intense head ache and fatigue you could imagine. instead of coming back home we had to rent a hotel to basically die in. (hotel was not something we couold afford either)my son is asthmatic and sent him into a full blown attack. so please be careful!! "

    " Scared....

I wasn't aware that I was supposed to be scared of all those things, so thanks. A bit of humor always helps. Seriously, sometimes I think that the purpose is to keep us to scared to see what is actually going on around us. "

" My Dad is in Valley Manor and it has hit there. We are required to wear a mask and gown when we enter the building. This strain of flu will undoubtly kill thousands a crossed the broad. ESpecially those with pre-existing health issues. I &my family are trying to stay out of public areas as much as possible until we can get at least the kids vaccinated "

" I have also heard of this, and as a mother of 3 kids ages 11,6,&3 I worry for them. I have been calling the Deptartment of health to see if they have gotten the vaccines in yet. These numbers by the way are on fox news. "

" I think the main thing is that we all need to be scared. Scared of swine flu, bird flu, SARS, immunizations, health reform, too many taxes, too few taxes, pot dispensers, economies failing, WAR,liberals, conservatives, organic food, inorganic food, anything heard on TV or read in Blogs, or listened to on radio. It takes a lot of effort into being scared of all the things we're told to be scared of. Get the shot, overwhelmingly people are fine who get it. Get the flu, overwhelmingly people live through the flu. What to be scared of next...? "

    " Just Saying,

Interesting, because I've never heard of this study... how do they correlate (or exclude) the number of elderly that were going to develop Alzheimer’s anyway? Or do they not mention that? My 97 year old grandmother gets a flu shot every year (and has for at least the past 20 years that I know of) and she’s as sharp as a tack. My other grandmother (87 years old) has never had a flu shot and is in the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s. "

" A doctor in Lake County with the Public Health Department has said that the swine flu is the mildest form of flu she has ever seen in her 15 years as a doctor. Why take the chance that your child will suffer from this vaccine, or develop autism because of it. It has also been shown in tests that the eldery who get flu vaccine for 5 years in a row are more likely to develop alzheimers. Why take that chance? No flu vaccine for me or my family. "

Lisa wrote on Oct 11, 2009 10:27 AM:

" My healthy 43 year old aunt died as a result of having an immunization that was in the clinical trial stage. Swine flu is causing less death than seasonal flu. It's just getting a lot more hyp and hysteria because it's a new strain. The new immunization is still very much in it's trial stages with no results in on how many people are having adverse reactions to it. "

" Wow! You're just now catching on?? Of course you vaccinate an asthmatic baby! The risk is too high not to. Just be aware that they may someday discover that that vaccination causes alzheimers disease. It is the risk you take for comfort! "
