MONTROSE - Tri-County Water will be replacing an aging potable water line that may affect traffic on and around LaSalle Road in Montrose County.

Tri-County has contracted with Hank Williams Construction to replace the aging 14-inch pipe with a new 20 inch PVC line. The project is scheduled to begin in early November and will take about eight months to complete.

The plan is to replace about eight miles of the water line that was originally installed in the early 1970s.

Construction is expected to start Nov. 9 at Highway 50 and LaSalle Road, and end at High Mesa and Ida roads. The contractor plans to work from both ends of the project, according to a news release. Construction will affect the following areas: LaSalle Road, beginning at Highway 50 and moving west to 61.00 Road; 61.00 Road to Kansas Road; Kansas Road west to Spring Creek; 59.75 Road north to Jig Road; 58.80 Road from the intersections of Jasmine Road north to Ida Road; and Ida Road west to High Mesa Road.

The majority of the project will fall outside the road right of ways, but construction activity could affect traffic in some areas with periodic minor delays. Construction activity will be staged north of LaSalle Road at 61.75 Road, and construction traffic will enter and exit at this location.

Tri-County asks area residents to use caution in the construction areas as traffic control equipment and personnel will be used to protect the construction crews and to minimize inconvenience to residents and visitors.
