MONTROSE - Catherine Cecelia Warren of Montrose, Colo. passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 2, 2009, at the Montrose Memorial Hospital at the age of 84. Kay was born Jan. 28, 1925 to John and Josephine (Wilhelm) Maenner in Eau Claire, Wis. She was raised and graduated from high school in Eau Claire and got her RN in Wausau, Wis. Kay married Thomas Warren on Dec. 30, 1947 in Hereford, Texas. Catherine and Thomas moved from Texas in 1959 to Montrose where they made their home until the time of their deaths. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Art and Frank; sister Marcie; and by her beloved husband, Tom, on Nov. 26, 1993 in Montrose. Kay had been an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Montrose. She worked as a registered nurse prior to her retirement, then continued to volunteer in various capacities for many years. She loved spending time with her family and especially grandchildren. Kay enjoyed working beside her husband, working in her yard, garden and also baking.
Surviving family members include her children, Pat Warren (Diana) of Grass Range, Mont., Fred Warren (Linda) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Chris Warren (Sue) of Montrose, Colo.; sisters and brother, Virginia Mousel of El Centro, Calif., Rose Holschuh (Jim) of Green Bay, Wis., and Paul Maenner (Pat) of Fairfax, Va.; grandchildren, Shirley Warren, Donna Harrison, Amy Clinite, Katie Hartzog, Sarah Morales, Seth Warren and Matthew Warren; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Steven, Daniel Harrison, and Jack Clinite.
A vigil service with rosary following is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at 7 p.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at 2 p.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow the Mass at Grand View Cemetery, Montrose, with a reception at the church after the burial.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church Kitchen Fund, in memory of Kay Warren, 1855 St. Mary’s Dr., Montrose, CO 81401. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-2121.
