School board election results released after 7 p.m.

MONTROSE — The Montrose County Re-1J School Board open seats will be determined by voters today and preliminary results announced later this evening.

There were five board positions on this year’s mail-in ballot, including two contested seats.

Three of the five open positions are uncontested. Stuart Tolen from Olathe is running for District A; incumbent Kjersten Davis is running for District C; and Mark Bray is running for District E.

Candidates for District D are Al Benson and incumbent Barbara Bynum. Bynum has served on the board since February, replacing Connie Majors. The two candidates are running for a two-year term, finishing the last two years of what was originally a four-year term.

Candidates for District G are Leann Tobin and Joseph Bagnara.

All candidates, besides District D are running for four-year terms.

Montrose County Clerks office said they should release preliminary results after 7 p.m. tonight.

Board members will be sworn in during the board’s next regular meeting at 7 p.m. at the board’s new location, 930 Colorado Ave., on Nov. 10.
