There’s already some interest about the Smothers Brothers concert coming Feb. 1 in Montrose. One lady called, inquired about tickets, and shared a funny story from many years go.

Apparently, the Smothers Brothes were appearing in Minneapolis. Tommy Smothers (the not-so-bright one, as an act) went up to the lady, who was working in the coat/hat counter. He had a sad face and countenance she said.

“I have a problem,” Smothers told her.

“What is it?” she asked.

“I’m still a virgin,” he deadpanned.

A reminder…..

The big memorial fundraiser for the families of Dave Kinterknecht, Rodney Ragsdale, Larry Witte is Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Montrose Elks Lodge, the host for the event. Live music, good food, and a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the families of these local police officers. Sgt. Kinterknecht was killed in July in the line of duty, officers Ragsdale and Witte suffered wounds. It’s also presented by: Montrose Police Department, Montrose County Sheriffs Department, Montrose Fire Protection District.

Elaine Moore tells me the silent auction list is a good one. (Holiday gifts, anyone?) It’ll be from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Good cause, this.
