I support the thoughtful letter of Marilyn Cox regarding the Montrose firefighters. While I don’t know the rationale for their recent pay raise, I do know that if the Westervelt household (Daily Press letter, Oct. 28) is ever unfortunately faced with a fire or medical emergency, a team of highly skilled, courageous firefighters will respond as quickly as they can and will do their damndest to save the lives and possessions of those in need!

Incidentally, Log Hill Mesa residents are deeply indebted to the Montrose Fire Dept. for their unwavering mutual aid and training support since the Log Hill VFD was founded in 1976.
