On Tuesday, local artisans opened Creative Corner at 344 E. Main St. in Montrose (next door to the Daily Bread). The establishment features craftsperson's original work from wood chests to stain glass, jams to tie-dye clothing.
"A lot of artisans have been looking for an outlet for their stuff ... many of which don't fit in an art gallery setting," said Barb Krebs, whose husband's family owns the building.

After several meetings with interested artisans, Creative Corner has 14 people signed up for the art co-op style business, which has been established as a limited liability company.
Those who buy-in pay an one-time $25 fee. Twenty percent commission of items sold goes to the building owners and each artisan is expected to volunteer eight hours a week in the store.
The store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will have extended hours during downtown events, such as the holiday parade, Krebs said.
"It provides artisans an outlet for goods, generates income for the building, it is one less empty space and adds a whole lot more life to downtown," she said.
The business is on a two-month trial period through the holiday season, with hopes that traffic and interest will sustain it as a place to find local crafts.
The group is also teaming up with the Farmer's Market, providing a winter spot for vendors. Starting Saturday, Nov. 21, Farmer's Market participants will set up their items inside the store. Thereafter, the market will open in the store the first and third Saturday of each month until Spring, when vendors can move back outside.
"We're two separate entities, but we're going to be in the same location this winter," Krebs said.
Creative Corner is still looking for more artisans to sell their items in the store. The establishment currently has no phone, but interested people are invited to stop by the shop.
"There has been a lot of interest. I was amazed at the variety and professionalism of the artists," Krebs said. "There are hardly any duplications (of products), and many of these artisans have been making a selling for a while and were ready to go."
