At 7 p.m. Thursday night, Nov. 12, a rosary will be said at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. It will also be a chance for people who wish to speak to share their hearts regarding their friendship and love of Tom. A funeral Mass will take place on Friday, Nov. 13, at 1 p.m., at Saint Mary’s.
The Patriot Guard, an organization of military heroes, will lead the funeral procession with an American flag lined motorcycle brigade, weather permitting. Interment will take place at Valley Lawn Cemetery, approximately one mile south of Montrose.Â

From approximately 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday, a memorial reception and social gathering will take place at the Montrose Elks Lodge. Please come join in celebrating and sharing the many memorable aspects of Tom’s life. A visual retrospective will be presented and live music by the Rusty String Band will enhance the celebration. He did love to dance. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served thanks to the friendship and generosity of Dad’s friends and fellow Elk members, Tim and Donna Mohr. All who offered their support, prayers and efforts in our difficult search, are sincerely invited to attend. We would like to thank you personally and both give and receive lots of heart-felt hugs.Â
On Monday, Nov. 16, the Elk’s brotherhood will honor Tom, who was one of their longest standing members, with a full Elk’s funeral at 7 p.m.
Thomas Joseph Boylan married Jean Louise Kennedy. Together they raised six children; Tommy of Paradox, Colo., Ann of Montrose, Jeanne of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Catherine of northern California, soon to reside in Montrose, and is preceded in death by his two youngest children, Danny and Teresa. Dad will be dearly missed by his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
On Nov. 5, after a 16-day, arduous national search involving every aspect of our hearts and souls, those of our friends of long ago as well as those who became part of our ‘family’ while the community pulled together to help, Dad and his one of-a-kind truck were found through the grace of God. They were retrieved from a steep and snowy Red Mountain Pass ravine, just beyond the tunnels of the Million Dollar Highway. Â
Our deepest gratitude to the professionals: Ouray County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, Colorado State Patrol, City of Montrose Police Department, Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Katharhynn Heidelberg of the Montrose Daily Press, Marc Klaas of The KlaasKids Foundation for Missing Persons, John Walsh of America’s Most Wanted, Special Agents Danny Coulson, and Beth Mallarky of the FBI, and the network of national media who were so helpful in spreading the word about how much we wanted to find Dad and bring him home.

I met Tom in the summer of 67 and
was very impressed with the very tan
ruggedly hansom man that just
happened to be my cousin. He was so nice and made me feel welcome. I still see him in my minds eye all these years
later. Rest in Peace Tom.
