Over the years, property owners have created angled or perpendicular parking in the city’s right-of-way, often times taking over an area that once had curb and gutter, landscaping and detached sidewalk.
If these properties were approved or not isn’t the issue. The issue is this type of parking has spread throughout the city with very little oversight, design guidance or enforcement of existing regulations, causing traffic, drainage and safety problems, City Planner Scott Shine said.
