Curb-cut parking guidelines recommended to city

MONTROSE - Following the guidance of the Montrose City Council, city staff developed recommendations to manage city-owned right-of-way parking in the areas around the historic downtown core.

Over the years, property owners have created angled or perpendicular parking in the city’s right-of-way, often times taking over an area that once had curb and gutter, landscaping and detached sidewalk.

If these properties were approved or not isn’t the issue. The issue is this type of parking has spread throughout the city with very little oversight, design guidance or enforcement of existing regulations, causing traffic, drainage and safety problems, City Planner Scott Shine said.

    " Who is Scott Shine? is he a public nuisance on the city payroll? He is NOT a city planner, city planning is done by Winston and Associates, Robert Mai Stevens, Del-Mont Consultants and Peter Schauer and Associates at a yearly cost of $471,791.16 per year, see Nov. 4 edition of the Montrose Press Public Notice section for County commissioners expenditures. scott_shine wants to remove whats left of parking downtown in another anti- business move by the city. We would be better served without paying 10x for the same job, remove all the city planners, they_have damaged this city enough! "
