MONTROSE — Although Columbine Middle School sixth grader Joseph Frazier received a brand new bicycle for his August birthday, it would be a matter of days before it was gone. However, best friend and Centennial Middle School sixth grader Nueton Lipman made sure his friend would have a bike.

On the morning of Oct. 1, Frazier was riding his new bike to school and stopped at one of many cross walks along the way; this one in particular located off of Niagara and Kent roads (in front of the Montrose Pavilion). Although he checked and did not see any cars, Frazier was plowed over by a truck, resulting in a fractured leg, punctured lung and a decimated bicycle. The driver, unaware he struck Frazier, kept driving.

" I agree that they twisted this story. Not to long ago there was a Mom on here talking about her son being hit and the teenager left the scene. This guy did ithe right thing, and he needs a apology. accidents happen, and he owned up to the responsibility. No one needed to put the guy who hit the boy in this story, it was supposed to be a heart warming story about the kid giving his friend a new bike. Not one about a accident. I think the author should retract that bit, and apologize "

" I was good friends with both of these guys until I moved to Denver. This was a cool story to read since I knew them both! "

" I can't believe how twisted this article was. Yes the boys are great friends, and Nueton did a wonderful thing for his pal. THAT'S where the story should have ended. PERIOD However, the driver was very aware that he'd hit something and did IMMEDIATELY get out of his truck and was invovled in (not running) the scene . The article needs to be corrected and I'm sure there are plenty of people who will help you with the facts if you don't understand. "

" Glad the boy is okay. Is he sure he stopped and looked for traffic? The driver did not have to be caught, he stopped and went to the boy and went to the hospital to talk with the parents and stayed until the boy was out of surgery. This story was an accident not a hit and run. "

" This could have been a sweet story about young friendship and generosity. But the media just can't seem to resist twisting and blaming and trashing. Too bad.... "

" You make it sound like the driver was a hit & run. Nothing could be further from the truth. The driver did not keep driving. The driver WAS aware of the collision, immediately stopped , jumped out of the truck and ran to the boy. While attempting to call 911, another witness notified the driver they already called. The driver did not have to be "caught "as you stated. I believe you need to make a coorrection to this article . "
