Amanda ‘Page’ Burgener MONTROSE - In the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 8, beloved wife, daughter, sister and niece, Amanda Page Burgener, passed away unexpectedly, well before her time. A free spirit who loved animals, music and the outdoors, she had lived all over the world but spent the last 11 years in Montrose, Colo., with her husband, Richard Cronkhite. She packed a lifetime into her short 44 years, and this was often reflected in her poetry. Page graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., got a masters degree in Museum Education from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and worked for a number of years at the National Geographic Society. She was an accomplished equestrian and competed during her early years in the northern Virginia area, taking a number of prizes on her horse, Romany Legend. Page is survived by her husband, Rick; her mother, Ruthe Burgener of Tuscon, Ariz.; her brother, Eric Burgener and his wife Vicki of Morgan Hill, Calif.; and her aunt, Betty Jo Burgener of Louisville, Ky., not to mention her cat and dog, Spike and Bones, both of Montrose, Colo. Her father, Robert Burgener, passed away in 2004. Page, you brought much joy and laughter into the lives of many of us here, and we know you’ll do the same to whomever you may meet in heaven. There will be a memorial service for Page at her church home, the Montrose United Methodist Church at Park and South First Street, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 (the date of her father’s death). Donations may be made to the Delta County Animal Shelter in Delta, Colo. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-2121.
