MONTROSE ” About 50 community leaders from area non-profits and related organizations gathered Tuesday morning to meet, network and collaborate during the first “Non-Profit Before Hours” event.

“I just don’t get out of my office, so this for me is really nice,” Judy Snedeker, Montrose Recreation District executive director, said. “There has been four new people I’ve connected with for youth programs. ... It’s enabled me to put faces with names.”

The event was a joint effort between the Montrose Community Foundation and the Montrose Regional Library District as a way to get non-profits together to discuss their missions, network and collaborate.

“In a rural community, there are limits on financial and human resources,” said Linda Pecore, who helps Montrose Memorial Hospital with grant writing. “If we collaborate, there’s opportunity to bring more money in.”
