MONTROSE - “Vic” Raley, age 88, of Montrose, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 17, 2009, at the Montrose Memorial Hospital. Victor was born Aug. 14, 1921 to William Dempsey Raley and Lena (Mueller) Raley, Sr. at Pierceville, Kan. He spent his childhood in Kansas and graduated from high school. He began his career at Boeing Aircraft, then was inducted into the United States Navy during WWII from November 1943 to January 1946. Victor went on to college to study engineering and court reporting. He married Mildred “Millie” Theiner on June 2, 1951 in Wichita, Kan. Victor worked as an engineer and supervisor in construction for many years employed by Doolittle Construction, moving quite often where needed. He was a member of D.A.V., V.F.W., American Legion and Moose Club. Vic attended St. Mary Catholic Church. Victor was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. All the grandchildren were very special to him. His hobbies included woodworking, dancing, boating and especially loved all sporting events.

Victor is survived by his wife, Millie; sons, Randy (Betty) Raley, Kevin (MaryAnn) Raley; daughter, Kandace (Scott) Wilbers; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Chad) Pegues, Melissa Dickey, Joey Raley, Jeramiha Murphy, Justin Murphy, Jessica Murphy, Clay Raley, Kyle (Nicole) Raley; step-grandchildren, Kyle (Megan) Wilbers, Austin Wilbers, Dalton Wilbers; five great-grandchildren, Alyssa Pegues, Avery Pegues, Gracie Dickey, Cameron Murphy, Dezaron Murphy; step-great-grandchild, Zander Wilbers. Victor leaves many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews and those who helped him when he was sick. Victor was preceded in death by his parents and four older brothers.

A celebration of Victor’s life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at 1 p.m., at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel with Father Mark Bettinger officiating. The service will conclude at the chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-2121.
