OLATHE - Olathe residents, mark your calendars.

After years in development and a two-month delay, the Olathe School-Based Community Health Center, located directly west of Olathe Elementary School at 211 N. Roberts Dr., will officially open Dec. 15.

The news comes after the health center’s August opening was delayed due to water damage. Montrose County School District spokesperson Linda Gann said the school district was excited about finally opening the health center, which has been a work in progress for several years.

The Olathe School-Based Health Center is set to open Dec. 15, but is still in the final stages of construction. On Friday afternoon, the construction crew working on the project was preparing to build steps and a handicap ramp to the front of the front entrance, pictured above. The center is located west of Olathe Elementary School, 211 N. Roberts Dr. in Olathe. (Matt Lindberg/Daily Press)

" Nice how they throw our money at a medical center. Anyone want to posit a guess on the number of illegals who will be using the facillity? I don't wish them not to have medical care but hate the fact that they don't pay. Oh and they want school custodians to clean it on top of already tight schedules, and lack of training on medical level cleaning skills. "
