MONTROSE — Montrose High Band teacher Andrew Burke has been set for trial on sexual assault charges.

Burke, 37, is accused of having sex with a student during the 2007-08 school year, twice when she was underaged. An arrest affidavit alleges he told the girl to lie about how old she was when they first began having relations. The girl reportedly disclosed the relationship to her family after Burke visited her home uninvited and frightened her, the affidavit said.

Burke was arrested in June and was later charged with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust and with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust-victim 15 to 18.
