Montrose's virtual front door opens

Gov. and Economic entities launch new Web portal, www.montrose.org

MONTROSE — Tracking down information on the Internet — whether searching for public documents or recreation and employment opportunities — can be tedious. But now, several community entities have teamed together to form a Web portal that provides easier access to information and demonstrates an unity among the Montrose community.

On Monday, www.montrose.org launched, opening a "virtual front door" to Montrose, City Assistant Manager Scott Sellers said.

Through a cooperative effort among the city of Montrose, Montrose Economic Development Corporation, Montrose County, Montrose Recreation District and the Montrose Visitors and Convention Bureau, a new and innovative Web portal has been designed that helps Web users more easily navigate and locate information.

A Web portal, or links page, is a Web page that presents information from different sources in a unified way. Through the portal, all entities are connection with links, a similar design and navigation tools. However, each entity keeps their original Web address and is able to update and make changes to their own sites.
