He spent his childhood in, and received his education in Idaho Springs. Warren went on to college, attending Wichita State, Western State College in Gunnison and Mesa State College in Grand Junction, receiving his B.A. He married Marjorie Irene Cotton on Jan. 26, 1963 in Grand Junction.
Warren served his country in the United States Army Air Force for four years. During that time, he worked as an airplane mechanic and following his honorable discharge he worked for Boeing Aircraft. Warren was a chemist for Lucius Pitkin from 1958 to 1963. He was employed for Dow chemical in Golden, Colo. from 1963 to 1965, and AMAX Metals for 20 years. Prior to Warren’s retirement, he worked for Colorado School of Mines for 10 years in Golden.

Surviving family members include his wife, Marjorie of the family home; daughter, Denise Cotton of Montrose, Colo.; a brother, Bill Jones and wife, Margaret of Eagle, Colo.; two sisters, Marjorie ‘Chee Chee’ Bell of Idaho Springs, Colo., Marilyn Orr of Phoenix, Ariz.; granddaughters, Christina Cotton, Niki Wood, Jennie Cotton, Renee Chavez, and Regina; and grandsons, Larry Platt and David Platt.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Grand View Cemetery, in Montrose. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose.
