“It’s mostly for the animals, because they are going to be inside that kennel with no families on Christmas. That’s what makes it sad,” she said.
Jensen needs volunteers willing to undergo screening and pick up a dog Dec. 23. The dogs are to be returned Dec. 26.

“I think it (Christmas fostering) will be good for them,” Jensen said of the dogs. “Once they are in their small kennel, they get pretty depressed. I think having human interaction will help them get adopted. Hopefully, the public will pull together.”
Altthough shelter numbers fluctuate often, 12 dogs now are available for temporary Christmas fostering, said Officer Mike Duncan, shelter supervisor.
