MONTROSE ” Stanley Harlan “Stan” Heffner, age 73, of Ridgway, Colo., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose. Stan was born to Stanley F. and Mildred (Koehler) Heffner on June 14, 1936 in Limeport, Pa. Stan was a foreman in the steel industry. He married Jane Hartman in Harford County, Maryland, and she survives. Stan and Jane were members of the Ridgway Community Church in Ridgway. Stan served his country in the United States Marines. He had a great love for the outdoors and Mother Nature. He loved spending time hiking, biking and was a train buff. Stan loved to travel and explore other places. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Jane, of the family home in Ridgway, Colo.; children, Cindy (Tony) Petinga and their children, Joe and Ryan, Steven (Connie) Heffner and their children, Kiersten and Gracy; Michael Heffner; two step-daughters, Connie (Frank) Hess and Nancy (Lee)Willis and their three children, Jennifer, Donald and Daniel; brother, Herbert (Mirta) Heffner. Stan was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Heffner, and father, Stanley Heffner. A memorial service in celebration of Stan’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at the Ridgway Community Church. The service will conclude at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-2121.
