Re: Grudges have no place to move a city forward
A question and a concern.

We have some who have been involved in area controversy. Some of that controversy became a little heated and just plain ugly. I would like to see each candidate to do a little soul searching as to their motive. Party affiliation or grudges should not be a reason to run for this office. Sincere interest in helping our community move forward and making it a great home for all of us should be the main goal.
I would like to thank those members of our council who are not seeking re-election for the fine job they have done and the many hours of their personal time invested and to those still on the council, thanks to you also.

‘We can do better’
Re: Wallace, Rose candidacies, Daily Press, Jan. 22
How low can we politically sink?
I’ve had it with Montrose and Montrose County politics. I am tired of the JetAway and the heartache and the expense that their supporters have caused us in the name of “economic development.”
The so-called JetAway business (ad)venture has cost the taxpayers more than $1 million in legal fees. I am tired of Steve Stuhmer’s (JetAway CEO) attack ads, unfounded court cases, FAA complaints. If memory serves me right, both Stuhmer and Al Head have fines pending for their contemptuous activities. I am tired of those persons and organizations that in the name of “jobs,” are willing to ignore legal and ethical principals of doing business here in Montrose County. They are destroying all hopes of any reputable future economic development.
While he was in office, House 58 representative Ray Rose wanted to declare “political war.” The Montrose County Republican Central Committee rightfully pulled their support of Ray Rose.
Why change now? We have truly good office holders in the candidates of Hughes, Dunlap, Murphy, Long, Canfield, Ellis. We do not need the likes of Rose or Brent Wallace representing us from any political affiliation.
I, too, have become a ‘citizen on watch’ and am fed up with the politics of destruction and self-dealing that always seem to come from the same few people that in the end rob us of our treasury and the privilege of living in a forward-looking community with a bright future.
We can do better.
