Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at the Delta City Cemetery, Delta, Colo. with Rev. Jeff Harmeling officiating. Interment will follow at the Delta City Cemetery, with honorary rites by Delta VFW Lee Marts Post No. 3571.
Wendell was born in Read, Colo. on June 29, 1941 to Harold Kenneth and Mable Marie (Adams) Johnson. He graduated from Delta High School in 1958 and went on to serve three years in the United States Army, where he became a Sergeant. Wendell was a resident of Delta County all of his life.

Wendell is survived by his wife, Lyndall of Delta, Colo.; his son, Weylin and fiancé, Jessica Wicburg, of Delta, Colo.; two daughters, Charity Lockhart and husband, Damon, of Delta, Colo. and Hillari Burtard and husband, David, of Fruita, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Blake, Colt, Ty and Paisley Burtard and Lily, Gauge and Ripp Lockhart; a brother, Kenneth Johnson and wife, Barbara, of Grand Junction, Colo. and a sister, Gilberta Lane and husband, Tom, of Delta, Colo.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mable Johnson; and a sister, Shirley Pfifer of Delta.
Wendell will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Wendell Johnson, to the Veterans Administration Medical Center, 2121 North Avenue, Grand Junction, CO 81501.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mesa View Mortuary Cemetery.
