Leads thin in armed robbery

MONTROSE ” The search is on for two men who burst into the Tienda Murillo at 8:30 p.m. Friday and robbed it at gunpoint.

Leads were scanty Monday, police said, because the men wore masks and completely covered their skin in dark clothing and gloves.

“They displayed the guns right off the bat,” said Montrose Police Cmdr. Gene Lillard.

The clerk told police that as he was getting ready to close up the North Townsend business, the suspects came running up from the south, and one rushed toward him with a stick. That individual smashed the stick against the store’s glass-top counter, breaking it.
