DJ’s services Saturday; fund set up to defray expenses

MONTROSE ” Memorial services for Montrose DJ Rick Steele are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Community Church (16731 Woodgate Rd.). Carpooling is suggested.

Steele, 48, drowned after falling into the South Canal July 1. His body was recovered July 17, after several searches by authorities and friends, and, per the coroner, was identified “to the exclusion of all others” by forensic examination and dental records.

Steele hosted a popular morning show on KBNG 103.7 The Blast, one of three local radio stations operated by Cherry Creek Radio. The radio reports that Steele’s family is asking for help with travel expenses and funeral costs.

A fund, “Benefit Account for Rick Steele,” has been set up at Alpine Bank in Montrose.
