City’s 2013 planned budget to bring savings

Posted: Wednesday, October 3, 2012 2:00 am

The City of Montrose’s planned 2013 budget was given a unanimous nod of approval in its first reading at Tuesday’s City Council meeting, as city officials managed to shave off more than 16 percent from 2012.

For the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2013, the City’s budget has appropriated $35,375,240.

Public explanation regarding the budget kicked off at 5 p.m. during the City Council’s work session shortly after city officials presented the document. The open house event was clear enough that no public comment or concerns were offered prior to the first reading during the regular City Council meeting. City Manager Bill Bell attributed the lack of public comment to city officials’ constant outreach over the past several months to keep citizens informed.
