DELTA — Chad Koch did not have to die, according to a man who said he tried to stop Koch from being beaten Monday night in Delta.

Koch, 27, was found dead on private property on the corner of H-38 and 1575 roads in Delta. Police there have not confirmed cause or manner of death, nor said whether anyone is suspected in the fatality.

“We had a Wild West, chaotic moment in front of my house last night,” said Bruce Truckey, who lives near the scene. “... It was very dark, there were a lot of people around. There was marijuana everywhere. It was pretty chaotic. I think the gentleman never should have died. I tried to stop people, but no one stopped to help me.”
