Thank you so much for expanding your religious section. We look forward to reading the future columns and the local church news.

We appreciate the fact that the new religious section is designed for the newspaper to relate better to the Christian portion of the Montrose community, but there are other religions which also benefit and serve the Montrose community. In Doug Kiesewetter’s first column, he stated, “Unity in diversity is a deeply cherished American ideal.” He also says he wants people of all beliefs, and no belief, to unite for the benefit of their community.

We support and practice those ideals wholeheartedly. The Spiritual Awareness Center has been welcoming people of all beliefs, spiritual paths and all seekers for the past eight years. We believe that in diversity lies our strength for building this model community.

We encourage you to include all faiths in this new dialogue to bring people together with a broader spiritual perspective. A person’s spiritual life is so important, as is his or her spiritual community. In our new model community, let us honor and respect each person’s right to practice his or her own faith and come together in that diversity to build an interfaith community of unity.

The Rev. Arlyn J. Macdonald
