The pilot of a small aircraft walked away without injury after crashing into a hayfield in Delta.

Emergency responders were paged out just after noon on Friday, Sept. 3, to a field near I Road and 1525 Road, Delta. The Delta Police Department, Delta County Sheriff’s Office and paramedics there discovered a single-engine Skyline Cessna on its top just west of the intersection.

According to the DPD, the pilot was walking around the aircraft, apparently unharmed, and no one on the ground was injured either.

The agency also said there was no fuel leaking from the plane.

Preliminary information is that the plane began having engine trouble about 30 minutes after taking off from Blake Field and the pilot then tried to return to the air field.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
