Honoring Those We Lost

A three-fifths scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. was installed at Delta’s Confluence Park Thursday. The wall lists 57,939 names of American troops who died in the Vietnam War. Veterans groups in Delta also have events slated Friday, Saturday and Sunday, for the Salute to Armed Forces Festival. Remembrance ceremonies will take place at 10:30 this morning and Saturday morning. There will be live music at the park at noon on Saturday, along with a benefit BBQ.

Shakin' and Groovin'

An annual staple for Montrose, the Summer Music Series kicks off tonight at Black Canyon Golf Course. Gates open at 5. Music begins at 6 p.m. Peachy, a band of college students featuring a local kid — Jeremy Trujillo — opens for Groovement, the feature act.

There will be plenty of alcohol for sale within the gates, and concertgoers are urged not to bring their own drinks or coolers. All Points Transit will be shuttling folks for free, as well: The blue bird route will run until 9:30 p.m. The shuttle will run every 30 minutes, between the 431 S. Second St. and the Montrose Elks Lodge.

Annie Get Your Gun!

Cowboy action shooting takes place this weekend at the San Juan Shooting Range, 19878 Dave Wood Road. Guys and gals will be dressed in cowboy and cowgirl attire, shooting old-style guns at targets. Some world champion-caliber shooters will even be on hand. It’s sure to be a good time.

Reliving the Wild West

Crawford Pioneer Days are underway at the Town Park in Crawford through Sunday. Three days of celebrating the town’s pioneer spirit. There will be a melodrama, food, games, fireworks, outhouse races and more.

Hot Rods and More

Black Canyon Classics holds the annual Colorful Colorado Car Truck and Rod Show, which kicks off today at 4:30 p.m. on Main Street between Townsend Ave. and Park. Saturday has a full day of events, from a swap meet and a silent auction, to a classic pinup contest. A classic car movie night caps off Saturday’s events starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Star Drive-In. Sunday, the cars will meet at Cerise Park at 8:30 a.m. to cruise on to the Cimarron train, near the Morrow Point Dam, which is currently spilling water — a neat sight to see.
