Almost ready

United States Army Specialist Steven C. Baskis (Homes for Our Troops T-shirt and tan pants) is close to moving into his new home. The veteran, who is receiving an adaptive home from the nonprofit Homes for Our Troops, received some help from the community this past Saturday during the Homes for Our Troops volunteer day. More than 65 volunteers helped do lawn maintenance and more during the event.

Home For Our Troops is a national nonprofit that builds adapted homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans across the U.S. Baskis lost his sight while deployed in Baghdad, Iraq, in 2007.

Homes for Our Troops will host a key ceremony for Baskis at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. (Submitted photo/ Victor Henderson @ Endeavor Studios)
