Harbor Freight Tools, a national retail tools supply store, will have its first location in Montrose later this summer.
The business has a tentative opening date of Wednesday, July 31, at 2210 S. Townsend Ave, said Harbor Freight Tools media coordinator Lisa Hartley. The store is between Office Depot and Big 5 Sporting Goods.
The tools supply shop will be open seven days a week with hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday. This Montrose location will be Harbor Freight Tools’ 17th store in Colorado.
According to Hartley, the 15,000-square-foot store has a stock of tools and accessories including automotive, air and power tools, storage, outdoor power equipment, generators, welding supplies, shop equipment and hand tools.
Full- and part-time positions are available at the new store with jobs ranging from sales and stocking associates to supervisors and managers. To apply, visit harborfreightjobs.com.
Hartley said the family-owned company started in Southern California in 1977 when 17-year-old Eric Smidt transformed his father’s small phone sales business into a successful mail order company.
The company opened its first store in 1980, and today Harbor Freight Tools has nearly 1,000 stores across the country, 20,000 employees and more than 40 million customers, Hartley said.
