Services were held on June 27 for lifetime Olathe resident, Nora Lynn Lindsey, who died of a short illness Monday morning June 24, 2019 at her residence in Olathe at the age of 78.
Nora was born in Olathe, Colorado on April 23, 1941. The daughter of Tad and Lois (Pfister) McCracken. She was the 5th of 12 children, and has never left the Olathe area. She graduated from Olathe High School in 1959 and went to work at Mountain Bell which is now Century Link. She retired in 2003 after working for over 40 years with the company through many name changes.
Nora met the love of her life in 1962, Billy R Lindsey. They dated two years and married February 19, 1965. They bought a home on Ash Mesa, west of Olathe, and started a family, where she remained until her death. The two raised sweet cherries on their farm and raised three daughters. They had 40 beautiful years of marriage before Bills’ death in April 2005.
Nora was a member of the General Assembly and Church of the First Born. She was steadfast in her faith and loved the little children. She helped many people behind the scenes. She didn’t want any praise or fuss made over her. She was a humble private person. She loved her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved working with dirt and being outside. Irrigating was fun to her. She lived a simple and happy life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Lindsey; daughters, Janet and Annette; Mother and Father, Ted and Lois McCracken; sisters, Linda Greene, Merrell Morris; brothers; Johnny McCracken, Alfred McCracken, and son in law, Steve Payton.
Nora is survived by her daughters; Susan & (Chris) Bunch; Peggy and (Richard Scott) Lindsey, Julie and (James) Della Rocco. Grandchildren; Stephanie and (Jeremy) Easter, Shane and (Courtney) Payton, Savanna and (Trevor) Bellew, Kayla and (Kevin) Karsh, Danny and (Evelyn) Tomaske, Taylor and Blake Bosch, Kara Della Rocco. Great Grandchildren; Abram and August Payton, Wolfe and Calvin Karsh and Gabe and Zoey Tomaske. Sisters; Lucille Long, Marg Jackson, Sandy and (Larry) Lugard. Brothers; Lonnie and (Debbie) McCracken, Gary McCracken, Kenny and (Charleen) McCracken, and Doug and (Nina) McCracken. Numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
