Montrose resident Ramona Roberts died at her home after a prolonged illness on Sunday May 19, 2019. She was 95 years old.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on June 1, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Montrose.
Mrs. Roberts , a homemaker had lived in Montrose for 57 years.
Ramona Lee Smith was born on March 16, 1924 at Redwood City, CA to Albert W. and Elidier (Billesbach) Smith. She grew up in Redwood City and graduated high school from Sequoia High School.
She married Walter S. Roberts, Jr. in Nevada on November 23, 1946. They lived in Hayward, CA before moving to Montrose.
Ramona was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Montrose. She was involved in volunteer work. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family. She also enjoyed animals, (she always had a pet dog) reading and being a sports enthusiast. She knew no strangers, treating everyone as a friend.
Those grateful to have shared in her life include her son; Walter Scott Roberts III, her daughter Judy L. Ubben both of Montrose. Her grandchildren: Justin Ubben, John Ubben Jr., Shane Roberts, Blane Roberts. Great grandchildren: Zach Ubben, Toby Ubben, Amelia Ubben, Trevor Roberts, Taylor Roberts, and Eli Roberts.
Ramona was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1995.
