The Montrose High School softball team snapped a five-game losing streak Friday afternoon, picking up its first win of the season with a defeat of Delta by a final score of 26-9 in five innings.

The Indians scored 13 runs in the first inning to quickly dampen the Panthers’ first home game of the season.

Senior Cora Blowers had three hits, and junior Lara Edeker contributed two hits.

The Indians nearly matched their season total (31) in runs scored during Friday’s win.

The team was off to an 0-5 start through the first five games.

Montrose (1-5) will play at Kronkright Park in Grand Junction on Tuesday to face Grand Junction High School (1-2) at 5 p.m.
