DENVER — The Montrose Indians are at 233, 17 shots behind Riverdale Ridge after the first day of the state 4A boys golf tournament.

Cheyenne Mountain carded a 222 with Silver Creek in third at 228.

Day two of the state championship will resume Tuesday morning at the City Park golf course.

Noah Richmond and Liam Beshoar turned in 77s. Jake Legg posted a 79 with Connor Bell, 89.

Ben Harding of Silver Creek had the low score of the first round, a two-under par 70.

“The course played tough and we got off to a rough start,” said Steve Skiff, MHS coach. “I was really happy with how the guys bounced back on the back nine. I like our position in trying to chase down the leaders. Tomorrow is a new day.”
